Getting Started with Therapy
Info & FAQs
Starting therapy can come with a lot of questions, and that’s completely normal. Whether you’re wondering what sessions will feel like, how often to come, or how payment and insurance work, this page is here to walk you through it all.
A supportive, collaborative space with therapy at your pace
Together, we’ll explore patterns, build meaningful insight, and develop practical tools that support your day-to-day life. My approach is affirming and trauma-informed, always honoring your identity and lived experience. You’ll be met with warmth, curiosity, and a steady sense of care throughout our work.
I provide a complimentary 15-minute video consultation, allowing us to connect and explore whether working together would be a good match.
All sessions are held virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform

Insurance and Financial Assistance
Insurance & Reimbursement
I am an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, and Aetna.
If you have a different insurance plan, I am considered an out-of-network provider. In this case, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your benefits.
Sliding Scale & Accessibility
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients experiencing financial need, with the goal of keeping therapy accessible.
At this time, all sliding scale spots are currently filled. If you’re looking for lower-cost options, you may consider resources like Open Path Collective, which connects individuals with therapists offering reduced-fee sessions.
The Process of Therapy
What Working Together Looks Like
Step 1: Free Consultation
Start by scheduling a free 15-minute video consultation. We’ll use this time to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and whether working together feels like a good fit.
Step 2: Getting to Know You
In our first few sessions, you’ll have space to share your story at your own pace. We can start wherever feels most important to you, and I’ll ask questions to help us understand your experiences, patterns, and goals.
Step 3: Ongoing, Consistent Support
We’ll pick regular times to meet for ongoing sessions. Therapy is a collaborative process—I’ll support you in exploring what’s coming up, offer practical tools, and help you make sense of patterns as they emerge. You’ll have a steady, affirming space to process, grow, and build new skills.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. We’ll discuss what you’ve been experiencing, what you’d like to change, and what support might look like moving forward. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say—we’ll take it at your pace.
-
Ongoing therapy sessions are collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your unique needs and goals. Each session provides a consistent space to explore your experiences, build insight, and develop practical tools you can use in your daily life. We’ll work together to understand patterns, address challenges, and strengthen your sense of self and well-being. My approach is affirming, trauma-informed, and respectful of your identity and lived experience. Sessions move at your pace, and you’ll be met with warmth, curiosity, and respect throughout our work together.
-
I recommend that all new clients start with weekly sessions. Meeting weekly helps me better understand your needs and allows us to develop new skills you can use in everyday life to improve your mental health and relationships.
-
I use an integrative, evidence-based approach tailored to your needs. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), feminist therapy, trauma-informed care, nervous system regulation, and insight-oriented therapy. My work is grounded in culturally responsive practice, ensuring your identity and lived experience are always centered.

Under federal law, health care providers must give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical and mental health services. A Good Faith Estimate explains how much your care will cost. It is not a bill, but it can help you plan for the cost of your treatment. Learn more about Good Faith Estimates here.

At this time, I am only seeing adults for individual therapy.

Scheduling a therapy session with someone you’ve never met can feel anxiety-provoking, so I offer a free 15-minute consultation to potential clients using a secure video platform. The consultation is a way for us to get to know each other and discuss what you’re looking for in therapy. I’ll help you understand what to expect from our weekly sessions and share information about my therapeutic approach. You can schedule your free consultation here.

Finding the right therapist matters, and it’s okay if we decide we’re not the best match. The free 15-minute consultation gives both of us a chance to see if working together feels right. If I’m not the best fit for what you’re looking for, I’m happy to help connect you with other resources or therapists.
